Limited library services starting 27 April 2020

Starting from 27 April, CUHK libraries are closed except:

•    Li Ping Medical Library (24/7 unstaffed)


•    Part of the University Library's Learning Garden is open for CUHK students and staff (unstaffed, 10am-10pm, Mon-Fri & 10am-6pm, Sat, except Sun & public holidays).


    • Enter through the University Library  After Hours Entrance.  
    • Bring your own devices when visiting the Libraries.

Medical Library re-opens on 14 April

Starting from 14 April, the Li Ping Medical Library is open 24/7 unstaffed.  Users are reminded of the following precautionary health measures when visit the library:
  • Users are required to wear face mask and keep appropriate social distancing inside the library.
  • Seating has been re-arranged in a way to ensure there is appropriate buffer between seats.
  • The PC Lab and leisure reading room are temporarily closed.
  • To prevent spreading the virus, library computer stations are suspended. Please bring your own computer devices when visiting the library.

New Drug Interaction Checker in DynaMed

The DynaMed has introduced a new Drug Interaction Checker. With this Drug Interaction Checker you can quickly check for potentially harmful drug interactions:

  • Check a patient’s entire medication list at the same time
  • Understand the severity of the interaction using the 5-point severity rating and supporting evidence
  • View results by severity, documentation and type of drug interaction
  • Search by brand and generic names of drugs
  • Interpret quality and type of interaction evidence with a four-level documentation rating system

Free Online Courses on Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response

As part of the knowledge transfer endeavour of the Collaborating Centre for Oxford University and CUHK for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response (CCOUC), 10 free online courses supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute (HKJCDPRI) at Hong Kong Academy of Medicine are now open for registration until 31 March 2021 and registered students are allowed to study the courses until 30 April 2021. A certificate of completion will be issued for participants who have successfully completed each course.

The Medical Library will open 24/7 during the Lunar New Year holidays while the book stacks and staffed service hours are as follows:

24 January 2020          9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

25-28 January 2020    No services

29-30 January 2020    9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

New Study Carrels & Desk Bike



To facilitate student learning, 16 new study carrels with lighting and power point are now added at the study zone of the Medical Library.  

 A Desk Bike is also installed in the leisure reading room. You can relax, do some fitness exercise and burn more calories with the Desk Bike while working on a computer, reading or writing.
