Visible Body: 3D Human Anatomy Education Tool


Visible Body is an interactive 3D visualization tool for human anatomy education. This workshop will show you its essential modules: Human Anatomy Atlas, Muscle Premium, Skeleton Premium, Heart & Circulatory Premium, and Physiology Animations. You will also learn how to use the Visible Body apps with your mobile devices.

 Lippincott Procedures and Advisor: Nursing Skills Resources


 Lippincott Procedures provides point-of-care procedure guides for over 1,000 nursing skills to help nursing professionals carry out effective care, and Lippincott Advisor provides nurses quick and efficient access to the specific information needed for optimal patient care, including drug, disease, clinical diagnosis and treatment, nurse care plans, patient handouts and quality and safety initiatives. You will learn how to use these tools to enhance your nursing skills and patient care techniques.

Using Psychology and Psychiatry Databases: PsycARTICLES, PsycINFO & PsycTESTS


This workshop will introduce a series of research databases on psychology and psychiatry which are useful for medical professionals, psychologists, educators as well as social workers. Besides the literature databases PsycINFO and PsycARTICLES, you will also learn how to use PsycTESTS and Health and Psychosocial Instruments to search for psychological measures, scales, surveys, and other instruments essential to behavioral and social sciences.

Searching Biomedical Literature with Embase and MEDLINE


Embase and MEDLINE are important biomedical and pharmaceutical databases for health science research, their coverage expands across international biomedical journals on disease, diagnosis and treatment, drug, and medical device data information. Through this workshop, you will learn the essential skills for effective searching these databases including developing a search strategy, using Medical Subject Headings, and applying limiters and filters.

The Library has subscribed to the following new medical e-resources: 


Visible Body is a 3D human anatomy visualization tool providing detailed models of all body systems. The available modules are: Human Anatomy Atlas; Muscle Premium; Skeleton Premium; Physiology Animations; Heart & Circulatory Premium.


 

AccessMedicine’s NeurologyCollection provides unique features like constantly updated references on neurology, multimedia on neurologic examinations and EEG monitoring and custom curriculum.


AccessPediatrics is an integrated online resource that provides students and teaching staff of medical and health related subjects and pediatricians with a wide range of contents on pediatrics.   It provides an one-stop access to information from leading pediatric textbooks, quick references, multimedia, pediatric board review, and custom curriculum.


AccessMedicine’s ObGynCollection offers a comprehensive online O&G resource that covers the entire spectrum of obstetrics and gynecology.   The unique features include continuous updates on reference materials and leading O & G  textbooks and the provision of the multimedia and images.


LWWHealth Library. Medical Education  This e-book collection provides access of over 50 textbooks on anatomy, behavioral science, biochemistry, embryology, epidemiology, genetics, histology, clinical medicine, microbiology, neuroscience, pathology, pharmacology, physical examination, and physiology.
 

LWWHealth Library. Pharmacy provides 30 electronic textbooks on biochemistry, immunology, internal medicine, medicinal chemistry, microbiology, pathology, pharmaceutics, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, pharmacy practice, physical examination, and physiology.


OMMBID provides the latest knowledge on the metabolic and molecular underpinnings of a growing list of inherited diseases – as well as updates on pathophysiology and treatment.


Journal of Medical Insight is a peer-reviewed video journal of surgical and medical procedures. Topics of video articles include general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, vascular surgery and more.



GIDEON is the world's premier global infectious disease knowledge management tool. This database is used for diagnosis support and informatics in the fields of tropical and infectious diseases, epidemiology, microbiology and antimicrobial chemotherapy.

Library Workshop – Answer Clinical Questions with Evidence-based Information: Using DynaMed to Make Clinical Decisions




DynaMed is an electronic reference tool used by physicians to answer clinical questions quickly and easily at the point of care. It has clinically organized summaries based on evidence-based medicine principles and best practices for over 3,200 topics and can be accessed anytime, anywhere from mobile devices and tablets. This workshop will show you how to use its evidence-based information to make informed decisions.

Dr. Alan Drabkin is a clinical editor for DynaMed and an assistant clinical professor in population medicine at Harvard Medical School. A graduate of the University of Cape Town Medical School, he worked in general practice in London, England before completing his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He was a practicing physician of family medicine in Cambridge, Massachusetts for 23 years before his joining DynaMed.
