New Series of The Biomedical & Life Sciences Collection



A new series on Drug Delivery has been launched this month in The Biomedical & Life Sciences Collection, edited by Prof. Vladimir P. Torchilin of Northeastern University (Editor-in-Chief of Current Drug Discovery Technologies, Co-Editor-in-Chief of Drug Delivery, and editor of other leading journals in the field). 

The series will cover principles, challenges and tailored approaches aimed at achieving optimal therapeutic responses with minimal side-effects.

Gale Databases on Health Sciences

New resources of Gale databases on health sciences are now available:

Gale Health Reference Center Academic 
It integrates millions of articles from a wide range of nursing and allied health journals, magazines, newsletters and with full-text reference works and health-related multimedia.

Gale Interactive: Human Anatomy
It is an interactive model allowing users to better visualize and understand human anatomy. Users can manipulate and explore 3D models that are paired with reference and periodical content for further understanding. 

Gale Nursing and Allied Health Collection
It serves the needs of nursing professionals in allied health fields who are looking for answers related to the specialised care, treatment and management of all types of patients.

Gale Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Collection
It provides access to academic journals and magazines covering the fields of physical therapy, physical fitness, and sports medicine.

Research to Publication

The Library has newly subscribed to the Research to Publication. It is a self-learning programme developed by the BMJ in collaboration with the University of California San Francisco. 

The programme, made up of the 6 courses listed below, is focused entirely on medical research. It guides learners through the entire process from designing a study, to seeing it published in an international journal. It is a online self-directed programme users can complete it at their own pace and in any order they choose.

LWW Health Library for Speech, Language and Hearing

The new e-Resources, LWW Health Library for Speech, Language and Hearing provides access to 15 core books for speech pathologist, audiologists and healthcare professionals. It also provides over 235 video clips covering fluency, audiology, voice, neuroscience, and anatomy and physiology.

New features of Anatomy.TV 3D Real-time Module

The Anatomy.TV (Primal Pictures) has developed a new feature, Side-by-Side 3D Model to Cadaver Dissection Images in the 3D Real-time Human Anatomy module.  



By supporting interactive labeling and colored highlights overlaid on top of the cadaveric dissections, it brings real-life context and relevance to digital anatomy learning experience and provides educators with an interactive tool that facilitates a flipped classroom approach, for improved student engagement.

Temporary Study Room


Renovation work on the 3/F of LCW Clinical Sciences Building will be carried out in Feb 2018. There may be some noise in the Library when the work is being performed.
